Danes ob 19. uri bo v prostorih PD Kranja na Koroški ulici 27, Andrej Štremfelj - prvi Slovenenc , ki je stopil na vrh Everesta stopil skupaj z Nejcem Zaplotnikom, obudil spomin na dogajanje v gori tistega dne. Ta vzpon na Everest še vedno velja za najtežji alpinistični vzpon na Everest.
Ob 30-letnici osvojitve Everesta je čestitko poslal tudi predsednik Azijskega gorsko alpinističnega združenja in Nepalske planinske zveze:
